Max Aarons linked with a move to St James Park

Newcastle proposed takeover, headed by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has seen them linked to some stellar names in recent weeks.

The takeover will see the Magpies become the richest club in the Premier League, making such links ever more likely.

The North-East side currently sit 13th in the Premier League, in what has been a promising season. Newcastle fans have been living a lot more comfortably under Bruce as they have teetered over the relegation zone in recent years.

The takeover has been dubbed ‘Operation Zebra’ by some, as the Saudi looks to take Newcastle back to a title challenging outfit. Nobody can forget the infamous interview with Kevin Keegan as Newcastle challenged Manchester United for the Premier League title in the 1995/96 season

Barcelona want-away Philippe Coutinho and Manager Mauricio Pochettino have also been linked with a move to Tyneside. And with the evident money and ambitions of the new owners, such links become more realistic.

Full Back Aarons would be a great signing for the club, who currently also employ his cousin Rolando Aarons. The 20-year-old has been one of many who have impressed for Norwich City this year. Aarons is too good for the Championship, so it may be time for Norwich to cash in on the defender.

I recently wrote a piece on how Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell would be the perfect signing for table toppers Liverpool and I believe Aarons’ move to the northeast would also be a success.

Newcastle have struggled to find quality in their full back positions in recent seasons. The likes of DeAndre Yedlin and Emil Krafth simply aren’t good enough for them. If they manage to make the loan signing of Danny rose permanent, and sign Aarons, they will have two dependable full back next year.

If Newcastle manage to secure the signature of Argentine Pochettino, this deal becomes far more likely. Pochettino was keen on the young Englishman at Tottenham, being heavily linked to Aarons in 2019.

English talent has been Steve Bruce’s most consistent this season. The likes of Sean and Matty Longstaff impressing far more than multi-million-pound signings Miguel Almiron and Joelinton.
